Cost Accounting (TrueCost)

.

Overview

Overview

TrueCost is a financial application designed to allocate expenses, within each patient servicing department, to patient-level cost objects, .e.g, procedures and lab tests. It also builds models that break down costs by resource type in order to support cost analysis of actual vs. expected costs. Embedding cost accounting ledgers within the CloudSuite dimensional global ledger offers capabilities not previously achievable with other healthcare cost accounting products.

Challenge

Challenge

Our team was tasked with building this net new financial product from the ground-up. Initially, we worked with a variety of team members to develop an understanding of the product. Cost accounting is a complex system to learn, and we did not have subject-matter experts to guide us.

Process

Process

Our process began by first surfacing and understanding what the product team's needs were. Using Presumptive Design, a design research method, we rapidly produced sketches and process flows and shared them with the product team. More fully-developed wireframes were later shared with users to validate our designs.
